Fun news: I'm hosting two great workshops about creativity next week!

Isolation has been a trying experience for a lot of us as stories of illness, lost jobs, claustrophobia and general fear for our loved ones have taken over our timelines and Whatsapp threads. However, hope remains strong as we also see people come together to help each other out, call the lonely, sew masks, make donations (however big or small) to try to get through this mess in the best shape possible. “Creative quarantine” projects have also been popping up all over. One friend is making bread (guilty as charged), this one is starting a podcast or a new business venture, and another is giving singing a go. It has felt like a lot of pressure to “make this time worth it”, understandably. And while I don’t think people who are not having a super productive and “Instagram-able” quarantine are wasting their time—it’s totally fine to feel depleted in times of crises, I’ve lived it many times— I find this creative surge exciting.

Could creativity save us?

I love that people are letting themselves listen to that little voice in their head that has been calling them to try something new for weeks, months or possibly years because it confirms a belief I’ve held onto for years: creativity lives in all of us. Too often we believe we don’t have it or we push it aside because we tell ourselves our jobs don’t call for it. And sadly, when left dormant too long, we even get scared of it if it makes itself known once more. But in times of uncertainty such as the one we are living now, reconciling with creativity might be essential. Maybe you need to reinvent your business for it to survive, or you are looking to entertain your children in new ways. Maybe you just need to get out of your own head in order to project yourself in a more auspicious future and dream a little. That’s where creativity comes in.

Come explore your creative side with me

So if you want to get in touch with your creative side, revive it and find ways to keep it alive that work for you, I have two solutions:

  • I’m hosting a talk during next week’s online edition of The Fearless called “Yes, you are creative. Believe it!” on Friday 17th April 2020 at 5pm CEST. It’ll be interactive and fun so that you can leave certain that creativity will be one more tool by your side through any mayhem you face now or in the future.

  • This is a members’ only opportunity for women who are part of The Coven but I’m talking about it nonetheless because I’m really proud to be doing it. On Saturday 18th April at 11 am GMT, I’ll be hosting a creative writing workshop. All participants will be able to let their words flow without judgment and feel the support of the community as they take time for themselves away from daily stress.

Hope you’ll join me for one or both of these workshops and may creativity be with you!
